The BDJV and its partners use three main monitoring programs to evaluate the health and sustainability of the black duck population.  These programs include the the Mid-Winter Inventory (MWI), Breeding Population (BPOP) survey, and fall age ratio of juveniles to adults.  The BDJV supports and advises efforts to improve each of these programs and develop new methodology to provide complimentary data.
